Submissions

Guidelines

We accept the following:

Fiction: No more than 4000 words

Flash Fiction: No more than 1000 words.

Poetry: Up to 8 poems. Each poem should not exceed 32 lines.

Photography: Up to 5 pictures. Each picture should be accompanied by a few lines to describe the picture and its significance.

Non-Fiction/Review: No more than 3000 words. (Please link all of your sources)

The number of pieces we may feature is dependent on the quality and number of submissions each cycle. There are two cycles in each year being Winter and Spring. There will be one overall winner each cycle who will receive $50 and a certificate, as well as three honorable mentions, each receiving $15 and a certificate.

Deadline for the first submission: November 25th 2025.

Results will be announced 3 weeks later.

Rules:

No use of AI is permitted in any circumstance.

Please include a title but remove your name in the document of each submitted piece. Include your name instead in the Subject of the Email directed at theselwynreview@gmail.com. This is to prevent bias in judging. All decisions are final. Please direct any questions at the Email as well.

You may only submit in one category of writing per cycle.

Entries will be judged primarily based on idea and depth of insight. Organization, language and style will play a small part.
